New Zealand's population is estimated to increase by one person every 22 minutes and 50 seconds.

This is based on the estimated resident population at 31 March 2013 and the following component settings. (Note: these settings are subject to change.)

  • one birth every 8 minutes and 42 seconds
  • one death every 17 minutes and 49 seconds
  • a net migration loss of one New Zealand resident every 67 minutes, and 1 second. 

The population clock is based on the estimated resident population and does not correspond to the census night population count.
