This is based on the estimated resident population at 31 March 2013 and the following component settings. (Note: these settings are subject to change.)
- one birth every 8 minutes and 42 seconds
- one death every 17 minutes and 49 seconds
- a net migration loss of one New Zealand resident every 67 minutes, and 1 second.
The population clock is based on the estimated resident population and does not correspond to the census night population count.
